Scenes for Community Ballet

Program Notes

Every year, the Student Composers Association (SCA) and the IU Ballet Department collaborates with Fairview Elementary School to put together a Community Ballet. Second- and third-grade students write the story of the ballet, and Jacobs composers and choreographers bring it to life. The final ballet is performed on the MAC stage in April for hundreds of children from elementary schools across Bloomington.

I had the privilege of writing music for this project in 2023 and in 2025, and both times it was a wonderful experience working with the dancers and choreographers to bring the story to life.
